You may be wondering why I’ve posted a couple blogs of my creative writing when I describe this blog as a “health” blog, well it’s because as a person with mental conditions I write for my health. Writing is a crucial part to my survival. It’s not even a matter of want, it’s clearly a matter of need. I am so much healthier when I am writing and being artistic at some level.

Writing is my first and favorite form of art but I do many different things in the artistic arena.

My Jesus, Lullaby

My Jesus, Lullaby
By Laurie Lupold

Sometimes I look at this cruel world
And feel sorry for myself
Find it hard to believe, that you’d want for me
To be living in this hell
Then I shout to the devil
Take your mean thoughts from my mind
“Cuz I know I have a purpose here
But for a moment I was blind

Chorus:
Father don’t you worry
I’ll always find my way
The grief is temporary
And faith revives the day
I know the sacrifices
I felt him crucified
So grateful that you chose me
My Jesus, lullaby

I am hurt by all the hatefulness
Saddened by my fellow man
But I take each opportunity
To show kindness where I can
If God can move mountains
He can make the world anew
But until that day of blessings
I’ll reach out for you

Chorus:
Father don’t you worry
I’ll always find my way
The grief is temporary
And faith revives the day
I know the sacrifices
I felt him crucified
So grateful that you chose me
My Jesus, lullaby

Each day I try to model you
And every day I fail
I know I am forgiven because
You saved me with each nail
I live and breathe to speak your word
And let my actions be appraised
I’m a kind and loving product of
My Father’s amazing grace

Chorus:
Father don’t you worry
I’ll always find my way
The grief is temporary
And faith revives the day
I know the sacrifices
I felt him crucified
So grateful that you chose me
My Jesus, lullaby

As We Die

Twisted lives we sometimes lead

It’s not that we expected greed

Somehow we just got caught up

In the feeling of being numb

Not To feel the unbearable pain

Disappointing making us insane

We didn’t mean it, we did try

But the demon shows and the demon lies

Our sobering did come and go

Reminders, they cut deep you know

We’d fight and fight, becoming week

The demon knew, and he did creep

Slithered in with ravenous taste

Promising whatever it takes

And we’d believe, and we would fall

And then we’d scream “Fuck it all”

We knew we failed, we knew the crave

We knew the road this demon would pave

Now we crawl down that yellow brick road

Like the demon is offering streets of gold

Face the bowl as we heave

Demon die, demon leave

But he holds you in his embrace

And offers you another taste

The cycle continues, like a record spins

We play the same song over again

The worthlessness that we feel

Threatens everything that’s real

We have nothing left but defeat

He spits us out like a piece of meat

He smirks as we sit and cry

As we die a little more inside

As we die

Repetitive Sound a Good Nights’ Sleep

Repetitive sound is essentially a sort of clamor that is produced by consolidating the hints of various frequencies. If you were to take all the comprehensible sounds that a human can hear and combine them, then you would have made background noise. The expression “white” is utilized as a part of characterizing this sound since white light is made by the blend of the greater part of the diverse hues.

Contemplates have demonstrated that background noise is powerful for a wide range of circumstances and along these lines, repetitive sound were concocted and observed to be an attractive answer for a large number of life’s disappointments. Insomniac

How many have dealt with nights where sleep just doesn’t come? As someone who Has Bipolar Disorder this is something I deal with quite often; sometimes for so long that it’s nearly crippling. Most people get the impression that insomnia means that you go days, weeks, even months without sleep however, that’s not always the case. At the moment I don’t want to get into the facts about the condition; I’d rather speak to you on a more personal note, we can dabble in facts later. I don’t remember when I had a good sleep pattern. Even as a child my sleep was deprived. My parents’ were both drinkers and what’s worse is when they drank, they fought; I think I unintentionally trained myself just to be awake if they went out because I always expected something to happen and too often it did. It just continued into my adulthood though, there have been short periods where I have slept quite normally. Sleeping pills work for some, not for me. None that I’ve tried have put me to sleep; they just make it nearly impossible to wake up when I need to be awake so I quit trying them. By all means, don’t take this as advice because everyone is different and what doesn’t work for me may work well on someone else.

As we look into this further in a future blog, we can discuss the facts as well as types of solutions. Personally, I try to stick to routine but when that routine gets interrupted the battle is on to get it back on track once again. Share with me some things you may have tried on sleepless nights that worked for you. Goodnight and may God bless your Healthy Horizons!

Perception

When your body aches it’s hard to determine how much of it is attributed to your aging bones, overall health, and mindset. I am 54, not exactly a spring chicken anymore and I also have degenerating bones and arthritis; however, I’m also on the depressed atmosphere of things today. Sure I could gulp down some ibuprofen but that’s just one more thing to contribute to my annoyed liver. So how will I find any relief? Hmmmm, well let’s start off by seeing how I can address the emotional part of it all because, let’s face it, if you’re feeling glum your body’s glum right along with you. One of the ways I find to revise my mood is by changing my environment. No, I don’t mean move or even go out of the house, I mean change your feel within your dwellings. It’s a dismal day outside so making the environment inside brighter can assist in developing a brighter atmosphere. However, lighting may not be enough. CNN is on the back burner for now, the news is quite depressing these days and although the grandkids’ cartoons are peppy and have their attention, it’s not really helping my mood so I think it’s time to turn on some music; music almost always makes me feel better and the oldies are a genre that takes me back to a time when I didn’t ache but was active and outgoing. So, let’s tune in to some oldies. Ah, that’s much better. If I was here by myself I could dance like no one’s watching hahaha problem is; they’d be watching so I think I’ll just get up and stretch and move around a little to alleviate some of this stiffness in my bones and I’m betting from there I’ll be feeling a little better about my day. Hope my little snippet brought you a couple of useful tools to try yourself. Feel free to comment and always strive to reach your Healthy Horizons!
